The advice that Shawn Wang gives in his 7 rules for developers has been on my mind a lot lately, especially the first: Learn in Public. So simple, but so powerful! I wrote a post in my Friday series that dealt with how I was beginning to apply that advice, and this Friday bore more fruits of continuing to pursue this way of thinking.

Namely, I’ve been really enjoying uploading to my YouTube channel for the past week or so. The act of creating and uploading has been really satisfying. There’s been a ton of benefits, among them having to learn to explain my thoughts and the satisfaction of producing something tangible. So, this Friday during labs I recorded another video in my series on Codewars JavaScript algorithms and uploaded it.

Making videos has given me a ton of ideas for future screencasts and series, and I’m looking forward to continuing down this path. I consider it to be something of a living portfolio, with the side benefit of (hopefully) helping others. Onward!
